BIPAA

The Bangladesh Intellectual Property Attorneys Association (“BIPAA”) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing intellectual property protection in Bangladesh.

Established in December 1991, membership of BIPAA is open to individuals practicing the profession of IP attorney in Bangladesh as well as organizations that comprise such individuals and are constituted in Bangladesh. The association now has more than 50 members. 

Objects of BIPAA

1. To promote and attain professional standards for practicing intellectual property attorneys, mainly members of the BIPAA.

2. To create fraternity among members of the BIPAA and work for the welfare of the community of attorneys practicing intellectual property laws.

3. To draw the attention of the proper authorities to the mismanagement regarding registration, protection, granting, and maintenance of intellectual property rights.

4. To be vigilant to keep pace with our national intellectual property laws with the day-to-day improvement of the intellectual property laws of the developed countries.

5. To give recommendations to the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for updating and improving our national intellectual property laws.

6. To assist and give support to raise the dignity of the profession when such a situation arises.

7. To grow awareness among businessmen, industrialists, lawyers, law students, etc., as a whole, about ways and means for the protection of intellectual property rights.

8. To establish a library and equip it with books and journals mainly relating to intellectual property laws.

9. To carry on research and publication in the field of intellectual property laws and rights.

10. To organize different seminars, conferences, symposiums, workshops, and training programs for the achievement of the goals and objectives of the BIPAA.

11. To take donations, subscriptions, or grants from any source, provided that in the case of foreign donations, the provisions of the Foreign Donation Voluntary Activities Regulations Ordinance, 1978, shall be observed.

12. To communicate with organizations and institutions of local and foreign countries having objects and goals similar to the objects and goals of the BIPAA and to exchange experiences, views, and measures taken for implementing the objects and goals of the BIPAA.
